General Motor's modest presence at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2013 is highlighted by the introduction of a new special edition version of the Camaro created exclusively for Japan.

New Limited Run 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Giovanna Edition is for Japan Only

If you’re looking for a Chevrolet Camaro, you’ll certainly be drooling over the 580HP supercharged ZL1. The only problem is that it's priced at US$56,550, so if you can't or are not willing to spend that amount of money, the entry-level 323HP V6 model, which is priced from US$24,245 may be all that you need.

It’s got the looks, enough poke to light up those rear tires and justify its muscle car tag and costs way less than the range topper.

Even the SS, which puts out 426HP from its 6.2-liter V8 at $33,535 or US$37,035 in 1SS and 2SS guise respectively, is much cheaper than the ZL1 that can lap the Nurburgring in 7:23.51 and is, thus, priced accordingly.

Static presentations aside, visitors at this year's SEMA aftermarket show also enjoyed, how should we say, a few extracurricular special events, which took place just across the street of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

One of those events was the Global Rally Cross held at a makeshift racetrack that you can watch in the second video after the break, but that's not the real reason why we're telling you this.

First up is the 1967 Hot Wheels Camaro Concept that pays tribute to the original Hot Wheels “Custom Camaro” toy, while also premiering a brand-new crate powertrain that connects a 430-horsepower LS3 engine to a 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission.

Oh, SEMA…Chrysler 300 Sedan Puts On its Chevrolet Camaro Face

As they say, men are just boys who haven't grown up, and what man doesn't have fond memories of Hot Wheels cars from his childhood years? With this in mind and after toying around with the idea for a few years, General Motors and Mattel joined forces to build the new 2013 Camaro Hot Wheels Edition, which we first told you about over the weekend.

“Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages.”

The production model follows last year's concept and it will make its debut at this week's 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, before it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2013 for a limited production run.

“It’s been nearly 20 years since I started designing cars for Hot Wheels and I have yet to drive one home,” said Felix Holst, vice president of creative for the Mattel Wheels Division. “Personally, I can’t wait to open the doors and see the Hot Wheels Camaro sitting in the garage.”

New 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is One Toy You Can Drive Back Home [w/Video]

It's no secret that the idea of turning a Hot Wheels toy car into a real life production model had been brewing in the heads of officials from General Motors and Mattel for quite some time, with the two companies even presenting a real-life Camaro Hot Wheels concept study at the 2011 SEMA show.

GM and Mattel have now finally materialized their dream and will be presenting a limited production run model at the 2012 edition of the annual aftermarket extravaganza in Las Vegas that opens on Tuesday, October 30.

The Hot Wheels-badged 2013 Chevy Camaro will be available as both a coupe and a convertible with either a 3.6-liter V6 or a 6.2-liter V8 engine, complete with a bespoke exclusive kinetic blue metallic exterior paint accented by red Hot Wheels flame logos inside and out, and special Hot Wheels-style rims.

Adding to the long list of retro-style packages offered for the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro since the car's launch in 2009 is a new kit from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE), cosmetically inspired by the 1969 model.

The Decatur, Indiana-based tuner of all things related to General Motors has named the package "Retrokit" and it offers it in two basic flavors, the RS and non-RS, with the only difference being that the RS gets hideaway headlamps.

Lingenfelter Wants to Give Your Fifth Gen Camaro a More Retro Look

Messing about with Chevrolet's Camaro is nothing new or uncommon, but turning a fifth generation model into a party house on wheels for desperate housewives and hooting teenagers, is something you don't get to see very often, which is why this limousine caught our attention.

Made for a company named ShowTime limos, based in the city of Perth in Western Australia, the stretched model is built on the Camaro Transformers Special Edition in SS guise, which means it's powered by GM's 6.2-liter V8 engine that offers up to 426 horsepower.

Back in May of 2009, General Motors issued the first ever recall for its then new, fifth generation Camaro that was sold as a 2010 model, only a few weeks after launch.

The recall affected 1,243 Camaro SS coupes equipped with a V8 engine because of a short-circuit risk that could lead to a fire. The culprit was a positive battery cable that could rub against the starter motor housing causing wear on the cable insulation.

In all recall cases, the automaker directly or through one of its dealers, contacts owners of the affected models to inform them about the problem and how and when it will be fixed (which is stated in GM's Recall Bulletin that you can find below).
