Being that the Montreal International Auto Show takes place the same week as the Detroit Auto Show, we can't say that we were expecting any world premieres, but Honda surprised us today with the unveiling of a new concept car named GEAR at the Canadian event.

The Japanese carmaker stated that the GEAR is a fresh study for a sub-compact (think Ford Fiesta) model aimed at young, urban, Gen-Y lifestyles. It added that the concept was inspired by fixed-gear bicycles (hence the name) and that it is "simple and utilitarian, but also customizable, connected and full of personality."

In some places, a little bit of salt and a pickup truck fitted with a plow will do fine to clear the roads when Mother Nature shakes her head and sprinkles her dandruff, but in certain areas, it's just won't do the trick, at least not in a timely manner.

That's when you need some heavy machinery to do all the hard work. If you have ever wondered how they do it, a YouTube user filmed a snow removal crew from Canada swiftly clearing up tons of snow with what could be one of the largest snow blowers we've seen working together with several dump trucks.

It’s happened to most drivers: congestion, that is, that plague of modern cities that increases traveling times and, of course, pollution.

Since 2007, Dutch manufacturer of automotive navigation systems TomTom has initiated a program to better understand the traffic flow of more than 80 major cities in all continents to improve its guidance systems.

Instead of relying purely on mathematical models, the company is collecting real-life GPS data from millions of TomTom customers and has created an accurate database of their driving patterns.

All that's left for Canada's Lloyd and Harry is to step on a wooden plank and tell the driver of the Civic del Sol to push the pedal to the metal. You can probably guess what happens next…
